Biden says the pardoned turkeys ‘will be encouraged, not disappointed’

President Joe Biden has pardoned two Thanksgiving turkeys, saying the birds were chosen based on “their appearance, appearance and, I doubt, vaccination”.

“Instead of being frustrated, the two turkeys are growing bigger today,” Biden laughed.

The president was in a state of ecstasy when he appeared in front of White House staff and their families at the Rose Garden to pardon Indiana turkeys, who lived happily ever after.

And when he was relieved to find out what happened to millions of turkeys on Thanksgiving Day, Biden said his names – Peanut Butter and Jelly – reminded him of his favorite sandwich lunch.

The amnesty comes as Biden’s actions see new signs of life, when the President signed his $ 1 trillion building bill on Monday and the House offered a bigger interest rate – $ 2 trillion in social services and climate change – on Friday.

The bill must pass in the Senate 50-50 before coming to Biden’s desk.

On Friday, Biden laughed at his recent remarks on the construction bill, announcing “Turkey and construction” and “Peanut Butter and Jelly will help restore butterball as we travel”. meaning the words about his leadership “Build Back Better”.

“I’ve said before, every American wants the same thing: You want to look them in the eye and tell them, it’s going to be okay,” he laughed.

And he added that the two birds are now “strong Indiana men” – and apologizes to Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and her husband, Chasten, from Indiana.

This year’s turkeys have been busy for several days in Washington, appearing in front of reporters along with members of the Indiana congressional delegation before heading to the upstairs Willard Hotel.

They will also have a nice new home. After being properly pardoned, the turkeys are now on their way to Purdue University’s Animal Science Research and Education Center, where they will spend the rest of their days in confined spaces with access to the grasslands, according to Purdue.

Turkey’s pardon often presents an opportunity for presidents to joke – often with their own money – and usher in the holiday season.

In 2019, President Donald Trump joked about the interrogation, telling attendees that the turkeys “have already received subpoenas to appear in Adam Schiff’s basement,” according to Congress leading the investigation.

And President Barack Obama protested in 2014 to take “legal action” to pardon the turkeys, knocking out Republicans who criticized him for not signing a number of regimes.

Leaders have been pardoned for turkeys since Abraham Lincoln, but President George HW Bush granted amnesty for the American culture that exists today by rescuing a 50-pound bird in 1989.
