Can Vivek Prasad continue to compete in the Olympics and strengthen India’s security?

India captain Vivek Sagar Prasad has been on the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup. The 21-year-old wants to draw his attention from the Olympic bronze medal victory and encourage his team to better defend their title at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

India face France in the final match of the opening day of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup. These players are being drawn in Group B along with Canada, France and Poland.

India are two Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup champions, winning their first title in 2001 in Hobart, Australia. The second gold medal came in 2016 at Lucknow.

However, since 2016, much has changed in Indian hockey. The country officials, who had a number of athletes from the 2016 team, completed a 41-year wait for the Olympic medal at the Tokyo Games.

Vivek Prasad, a former member of Tokyo’s elite group, feels compelled to say the same thing to his side. The junior hockey team played a number of practice matches with senior players and the Indian football coach believes it will help them in the competition.

“During my time with the senior team, I have learned important lessons from the senior team if the team comes first. My job will be to get the team together and promote the Olympics as much as I can,” he told a news conference Tuesday.

Five countries traditionally host the World Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup. Germany has won most titles (sixth), followed by India. Australia, Argentina and Pakistan have won one.

However, this year’s hockey tournament will be without Australia, New Zealand and England. The three rich people left because of restrictions on COVID-19.

The team led by Vivek Sagar and some of the sports fans along with Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Surprisingly, the Netherlands have never won the Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup.

The top two finish in the pool is the only way to get a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
