TeamSnap is seeking a software engineer with a strong interest in cybersecurity to join our security team. This is a fantastic opportunity to dive deep into  security while leveraging your existing development skills to make our systems more secure. You’ll learn to use security tools, understand security best practices, and become integral to our proactive approach to protecting digital assets.
What You’ll Do:
As a security engineer you will gain practical experience with security concepts, tools, and methodologies to defend against script kiddies, spot signs of malware, and help investigate suspicious activity to protect our systems and users.
Leveraging your skills as a software developer you will help to analyze and secure our code, developing skills in analyzing applications for vulnerabilities while helping our developers write better, more secure code.
You’ll contribute to our security posture by understanding and applying best practices, participating in training, and proactively identifying potential improvements.
As someone who may be new to the security space, you will have the opportunity to grow as part of a collaborative security operations team dedicated to developing your security expertise through training and mentorship.

What Will Set You Up for Success:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in one or more of our core languages (GO, Ruby, Terraform) or a similar language.
  • A strong interest in learning about cybersecurity concepts, practices, and tools.
  • An analytical approach to identify potential security weaknesses and find solutions.
  • A willingness to absorb new knowledge and continuously improve your security skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Some experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks or standards (NIST, ISO 27001, OWASP, etc.), even at a beginner level
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts (would be great if you’ve worked with GCP)

Compensation
We’re committed to equitable compensation for all TeamSnappers. The minimum starting point for this role is $120,000, inclusive of base and bonus, with comp updated based on multiple factors. Our comp is highly competitive in our space and we adjust overall comp based on relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. 
🖥 Location
TeamSnap is a fully remote company, so you need to be very comfortable working with people who aren’t in the same time zone as you. We are always expanding, but there is a small list of states we do not hire in, including Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota and West Virginia and while we love all parts of the world, we can only hire permanent US residents at this time.
