JOB SUMMARY: As a Senior Software Engineer, the incumbent takes end-to-end ownership of projects, pushing boundaries and shaping technology on a global scale. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver impactful solutions, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to our global engineering community.

The Customer Experience (CEX) team manages the entire customer journey, from signup to personalized content viewing on a wider range of consumer devices. Our fast and intuitive experiences cater to different user segments, including mobile, tablet, and living room viewers. The Foundations team is the backbone of Disney+ Hotstar’s Customer Experience (CEX) organization. We focus on building and maintaining the core infrastructure and services that enable the rest of the organization to deliver seamless and engaging user experiences.

REPORTING TO: Engineering Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Independently drive the planning, execution, and operational excellence of smaller-scale software projects
Showcase a deep understanding of technical design and take end-to-end responsibility for your feature from design to production
Build the next-generation user experience and the platforms required to enable intuitive content discovery for our customers
Optimize applications for performance and scalability across various platforms, Mobile, Web, and Living Room devices
Collaborate independently with the stakeholders/product managers to define project requirements and break down complex problems into manageable tasks
Should prioritize and deliver project milestones effectively, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
Participates in team on-call activities, identifying and resolving root causes of recurring issues
Mentor junior engineers (SDE1s/SDE2s) for functional excellence, conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to hiring activities

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

Strong coding and designing skills (Java or Golang)
Experience in solving low-level design problems in distributed systems
Strong understanding of database and storage fundamentals
Embrace new technologies and work with various tools and technologies to achieve the desired functionality
Experience with AWS stacks like Aurora, etc. will be an added advantage
Experience in building high-scale distributed systems will be an added advantage
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and collaborate well within a team environment to achieve desired results
