Live game show – Leverkusen vs Celtic 25.11.2021

Team news and statistics ahead of Bayer Leverkusen vs Celtic in Europa League group Thursday; from 5.45pm.

Group issues

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is due to be selected from the squad for Thursday’s Europa League match at Bayer Leverkusen.

The Hoops boss also said there had been no injury problems since last Saturday in the Scottish League Cup semifinals against St Johnstone.

Postecoglou reported Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt are about to return but will not appear in Germany, while Giorgos Giakoumakis is still battling a knee injury.

Celtic will see fit to get something from Germany

Postecoglou has no plan to be careful.

He said: “We will learn in this game if we play our football, you will not learn anything if you go there and avoid it.

“We can go and be careful, try and catch, try and survive, but if we do that we will learn nothing. All you learn is that you are inferior and you do not believe you can be good.

“The only way we can learn anything from this game is if we go out and take part in the game. This can be a painful lesson for all of us but in the end it is a good way for us to know.

“It would not be a painful lesson, it could show that we are making great progress. I would rather go there and explore for ourselves than go there and try to survive.”

Group G – Games

Celtic are close to beating Bayer Leverkusen by four points with two games to go, but a win over Germany will keep them strong enough to advance to the play-offs at least. Their final team game is at home to Real Betis.
